CANTON -- More than 335 individuals united as a sea of purple in Canton on Sunday at the 2014 North Country Walk To End Alzheimer’s and $38,000 to fund crucial Alzheimer’s research and provide care and support services to families in the North Country.
Lucia Johnson of Massena was the top individual fundraiser with $3,190. Her family’s team, Memory Keepers, raised $5,399 and was the top friends and family team. Community Bank, N.A. was the top corporate team with $3,969. United Journey, a team of walkers from United Helpers Maplewood campus, raised $5,894 and was the top senior care team.

The event also provided an opportunity for people to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical trial enrollment, and support programs and services of the Alzheimer’s Association.
The walkers also held a tribute ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
Major sponsors were presented by Kinney Drugs Foundation and Save-A-Lot Stores.
