CANTON -- Congressional hopeful Tedra Cobb of Canton, a Democrat, will start a tour of the 12 counties of 21st Congressional District Sunday in Canton.
Her “NY-21 Caravan” ends in Albany Tuesday, April 10 when she says she will deliver signed primary ballot petitions for her campaign to unseat two-term Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, R-Willsboro.
Cobb supporters are invited to meet her at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Canton Village Green before she continues her tour to Lowville, Watertown, Old Forge, Long Lake and Saranac Lake on Sunday, and in Plattsburgh, Elizabethtown, Glens Falls, Greenwich, Wilton and Johnstown on Monday.
Since March 6, volunteers have been gathering signatures on petitions to ensure her spot on the June 26 primary ballot, according to a press statement from Cobb.
“I’ve promised transparency,” said Cobb, a former St. Lawrence County legislator. “I’ve pledged to hold at least one town hall meeting in every county each and every year. This 12-county tour is the first step in that promise, my way of communicating that I will do what I say. I will be out there listening and working with constituents,” she said.
The ballot filing deadline is April 12. The primary is on June 26.
In addition to Cobb, the list of Democrats still hoping to be in the Democratic primary includes Patrick Nelson of Stillwater, Donald Boyajian of Cambridge, Emily Martz of Saranac Lake, Katie Wilson of Keene, David Mastrianni of Saratoga Springs, and Saranac Lake native Dylan Ratigan.
