MASSENA -- Officials at the Cornwall Port of Entry are urging travelers to use other crossings as they expect "service disruption."
While the press release offers no explanation, it was likely issued due to a planned protest by the Mohawk Nation.
The protest was announced earlier this week. To read more about it see this article by the Cornwall Standard-Freeholder at http://www.standard-freeholder.com/2013/05/13/mohawk-border-protest-planned
The release is urging travelers to cross at the Ogdensburg-Prescrott International Bridge until further notice.
A statement included in the release said authorities hope to restore services to normal levels as soon as possible.
"The CBSA is committed to ensuring the free flow of trade and travel which is critical to Canada’s economy and to this community. We recognize border disruptions affect the individuals and industry that fuel Canada's economy and we are working to restore normal border operations at Cornwall as quickly as possible."
