WADDINGTON – With just two days to go before a giant bass tournament begins, several dry camping sites are still available at Leishman Point but some private homes have been rented to visitors, according to Town Supervisor Mark Scott.
A total of 25 campsites were made available for tents and RVs in order to accommodate the visitors for the Bassmasters Elite Series Evan Williams Bourbon Showdown.
Scott the village is already filling with anglers with tournament set to begin Thursday.
He said many of the participants have sought lodging with residents, some staying as guests and others renting out private homes.
"It's been all fishing all the time," Scott said of the small town that expects thousands of visitors over the next week.
The town voted to supply the sites for RV’s, pull behind campers, and tents. The sites have been available since Aug. 2 and will remain available until Aug. 16.
Portable toilets, hand wash stations, and potable water will be available at the campground.
A potable water source to fill RV and Campers will be available at the Waddington Beach (Camper must provide their own hose).
There will be a dumping station located at Island View Park across from Waddington True Value on St. Lawrence Avenue in the Village of Waddington.
AJ’s Septic Service will also be available to pump out black and grey water storage tanks at the campground. Pump-outs will occur during normal service of the portable toilets. Trash removal will also be provided.
The cost for camping will be $25 per night. A service fee of $10 will be charged at the dumping station.
