CANTON-- Calling hours for Aleesha and Paislee Cobb, Heuvelton, who were killed Friday, Nov. 14 in a car accident on County Route 29 in Pierrepont, will be held at the O’Leary Funeral Service in Canton today, Monday, Nov. 17 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Calling hours will again be held Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Iseneker Funeral Home, 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, immediately followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m.
Aleesha Cobb, 21, died at the scene and her 5-month-old daughter, Paislee Cobb, died of her injuries at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, police said.
"All we know is she was headed towards Colton...for some unknown reason she swerved over into the other side of the road and hit a tree pretty much head-on," Investigator Tim Peets of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation said.
He noted that there is no indication at this time that drugs, alcohol, distracted driving or equipment failure caused the accident.
"We don't know. We're waiting for the results of the collision reconstruction unit," he said.
Peets said there were no witnesses and no homes near the crash site.
"It's a pretty desolate road," he said.
