POTSDAM – The Cactus Grill and Cantina, 11 Raymond St., has opened a new banquet room on the second floor and has built a rooftop deck and bar.
The banquet room can seat 60 and can be used for parties and banquets, and otherwise will be used for groups of diners amounting to 12 or more.
Pam Hazen, who owns the cantina with her husband Larry, said when they rebuilt the roof they took the wood from the old roof and brought to Amish craftspeople who built several long tables for the new large room.
The new roof deck, opened in time for the Summer Festival, overlooks the village. It, too can be booked for parties, and otherwise is for diners through 10 p.m., after which it is open for cocktails.
“We wanted extra space for patrons,” Hazen said when asked what inspired the work.
She said they had hired 10 more part-timers for the restaurant.
The Cactus Grill is open Sunday through Thursday 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 5 to 10 p.m.
