CANTON – Repairs to a bridge about two miles southeast of the village of Canton are the topic of a public information meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the municipal offices, 60 Main St.

The bridge, over Grannis Brook, is expected to be closed for about three months as work on the bridge, including replacement of the bridge deck and minor structural rehabilitation, is done either this coming construction season or next hear.

The state Department of Transportation is presenting information on the project at the Tuesday meeting, including plans for a detour while the bridge is closed.

Construction costs are estimated at $500,000.

DOT says the meeting is to obtain comments on the proposed project from individuals, groups, officials and local agencies, specifically on the proposed traffic control plan and on the project’s social, economic and environmental effects.

Interested individuals who are not able to attend may obtain project information by writing to Scott A. Docteur, P.E., Director, Planning and Program Management, NYS Department of Transportation, Room 706, Dulles State Office Bldg., 317 Washington Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
