Breezy with highs in the 50s expected for Thanksgiving Day in North Country

A breezy Thanksgiving Day is in store for the St. Lawrence Valley with temperatures warmer than today, the National Weather Service predicts.

Skies will gradually clear today in the North Country and highs will be in the mid 40s, according to the NWS.

Some clouds will return tonight with lows in the mid 30s.

Calm to light winds will increase tonight to 10 to 15 mph from the south, the NWS says.

For Thanksgiving Day, it will be breezy, with gusts from the south approaching 30 mph, and warmer, with highs around 50, under mostly cloudy skies, the NWS predicts.

Skies will remain cloudy for Thursday night with lows around 45, and south winds will continue to be gusty.

The forecast calls for showers likely Friday and Friday night before the sun returns Saturday

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 44. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.

• Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. South wind 10 to 15 mph.

• Thanksgiving Day: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. South wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

• Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. South wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

• Friday: Showers, mainly after 7am. High near 54. South wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

• Friday Night: Rain showers likely before 11pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 11pm and 1am, then a chance of snow showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. North wind around 8 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

• Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 22. Light southwest wind.

• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.

• Monday: Sunny, with a high near 36. Light north wind.

• Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 25. Light and variable wind becoming southeast around 6 mph after midnight.

• Tuesday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. South wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
