BRASHER FALLS - Amongst colorful fans and many noise makers, the Little Larrie Youth Soccer program held its season finale on Monday and Tuesday with a mini-World Cup competition for the U6, U8 and U12 programs.

The World Cup was hosted by the Brasher-Stockholm Recreation Commission under the lights in the Tri-Town Community Center outfield.

The SLC Boys Varsity team volunteered at the event assisting with scorekeeping, concession and coaching duties.

Competing in the U6 division were Team Korea (Mackenzie Taylor, Nicholas Page, Hayley Kennedy, Ayden Page) and Team Brazil (Erin Lantry, Charlie Dow, Leah Beth Guerard, Melanie McLean, Casey Martin).

Leah Beth Guerard (AKA "The Giggler") led the way with scoring leading Brazil to the U6 title win.

Competing in the U8 division were Team England (Hayley Bush, Kristin Crump, AJ Martin, Celeste Gardner, Kassidy Gardner); Team Colombia (Dalton O'Brien, Olivia Ashlaw, Kayley McCarthy, Shaylyn Daniels); and Team France (Chloe Ramsdell, Gabe Hornung, Peyton Despaw, Elizabeth Best, Audrey Clark, Chantel McCarthy).

After a hard fought round-robin, England and Colombia found themselves battling it out for the title.

With exciting back and forth play, the match was tied at the end of regulation.

With no subs and after playing three games back to back, an exhausted Colombia was victorious in the shootout.

Competing in the much hyped U12 division were Team Sweden (Grant Taylor, Eliza Sullivan, Drew Rose, Andrew Lantry, Marissa McLean, Kathleen Bellinger); Team USA (Bailee Gauthier, Luke Collins, Chase Delisle, Carter Rose, Michaela Bethel, Madison McLean); Team Mexico (Will Arquiett, Leah Francis, Melanie Richards, Hunter Snyder, Jarrett St. Hilaire, Emily Lantry); Team Japan (Trent Dow, Shane Rose, Sydney Collins, Hailie Despaw, Kiley Jo Converse, Sean Hornung); and Team Germany (Ashley Razis, Parker Hornung, Zach St. Hiliare, Maggie Yandoh, Tessa Taylor).

Teams were definitely determined to win infected by the noise of the world cup crowd.

In round robin play half of the games ended in a shootout after regulation.

Team tricks, team spirit and national trivia were the deciding factors in the other games.

The U12 championship game was one of skill, grit and playing through the pain in some cases.

It was a game of inches with many shots missing by just that.

Team Germany's Zach St. Hilaire scored first after a text book give and go to lead going into the half.

Amidst the noise of frenzied fans, coaches and the wail of passing fire trucks, Team USA was able to score half way through the second half on a through pass to Luke Collins.

Tied at the end of regulation, the teams faced off in a shootout.

Team Germany's Tessa Taylor connected in the lone goal during the shootout to take the title for Germany.
