POTSDAM – A Brasher man is charged with driving while his blood alcohol level was two and half times the legal limit.
Craig W. Phelix, 26, Brasher, was stopped by Potsdam Police at 1:37 a.m. Thursday along Lawrence Avenue after a patrol saw him drive straight from Raymond Street onto Elm Street, a prohibited maneuver. The patrol also clocked him traveling at 45 mph in the 30 mph zone, according to police.
His blood alcohol level was measured at .20 percent, two and a half times the DWI threshold of .08 percent.
He was issued tickets for failing to turn as required, speeding, DWI and aggravated DWI.
It was discovered that there was an outstanding bench warrant aginst Phelix in Potsdam Village Court, and he was arraigned before Judge Pignone.
A passenger in Phelix’s vehicle, Stuart R. McCallen, 25, Brasher Falls, was also found to have an outstanding bench warrant against him, and he was arraigned at the same time.
