MASSENA -- A Brasher Falls man is jailed on allegations that he broke into someone’s apartment and stole a video game system and several games.
Jonathan W. Cogdill, 26, of Hurley Road is charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor, Massena Police said.
On Wednesday around 7:30 p.m., Cogdill allegedly broke into the Maple Street apartment of Paul Radel and stole a Playstation 4 and seven games with a combined value around $475, according to documents filed with Massena Village Court.
Cogdill waited until Radel left and pushed a fan out of an open window to enter the apartment, the documents say.
He then sold the games, but not the PS4, at Gamestop for around $45 and bought dinner at Burger King for he and his girlfriend, who was unaware of the alleged burglary, according to court documents.
One of the documents was a statement Cogdill gave to police where he admitted the burglary and theft.
He was arraigned in Massena Village Court by Justice Eric Gustafson and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, in lieu of $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond.
