Student leaders, and staff who participated in the recent peer mentoring training are, from left, front, Baylee Carroll, Shannon Casey, Claire Englert, Carlie Leary, guidance counselor Erin Covell, Emily Pease, Dominique Valancius and training coordinator Mary Beth Campbell; back, high school principalPat Farrand, Rob Cameron, Sam Gerber, Noah Serabian, Isiah Peryy, director of guidance Bob Jordan, Dave Phillips, Emily Lambert, and Michael Stenlake.

The Northern Zone for Counselors and Development in collaboration with Massena Central High School co-sponsored training on the March 15 school staff development day.

Massena Central High School brought in a coordinator from the Boomerang Project from California and provided student Link Leaders to facilitate events.

The Boomerang Project hosts an internationally recognized high school and middle school transition program, Link Crew and WEB, which are built on the premise that students can help students succeed through peer mentorship using leadership and group development.

The aim is for educators to bring out the best in students while receiving some worthwhile experience.
