MASSENA – The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is preparing for the boating season and will begin installing docks and buoys the week of April 20 along the St. Lawrence River near the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project.
The first docks to be installed will be at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch. It is expected to take about two weeks, but is dependent on the weather and river conditions.
Docks and buoys will be installed in the Town of Massena at:
• Hawkins Point Visitors Center & Boat Launch
• Massena Intake docks
• South Channel buoys
• Massena Country Club docks.
They will be installed in the town and village of Waddington at:
• Whittaker Park docks
• Old Milk Factory buoys
• Howard Park docks.
All the docks and buoys are scheduled to be removed in the fall, depending on weather and river conditions.
The fall removal plan is to have the docks removed before heavy frost or ice creates unsafe conditions for workers and boaters.
