A bill restoring $90 million in funding to the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) was supported by St. Lawrence County state representatives.
The funding was initially cut from the budget earlier this year, but according to Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River), he offered an amendment during the budget debates in March. But the Assembly voted against the measure.
Blankenbush takes credit for pushing his Assembly Republican colleagues and the Senate to pass the bill and restore the funding.
Blankenbush represents the 117th assembly district, which includes the St. Lawrence County towns of DeKalb, Gouverneur, Hermon, Russell, Edwards, Fowler and Pitcairn.
