Sunny days today and tomorrow with high temperatures around 80 will make for a lovely North Country weekend, “pretty quiet weather,” according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight skies will be mostly clear with lows in the upper 50s.

Meanwhile a large upper level low will be setting up over the Great Lakes area, making for a chance of showers early next week. The NWS says there will be a 40 percent chance of showers Monday afternoon, with a high in the low 80s.

Later in the week the low will drift northward into Quebec and conditions in the North Country will improve. Sunny skies are predicted for Tuesday.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: Sunny, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind.

• Tonight: Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 58. Light and variable wind.

• Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind.

• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph after midnight.

• Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. South wind 5 to 9 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

• Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. South wind 5 to 7 mph.

• Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

• Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph.

• Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 74. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

• Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. West wind around 6 mph.

• Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. West wind 6 to 8 mph.
