Bathroom bomb threat empties Canton High School; school says campus safe

CANTON -- A report by a student of a scribbled bomb threat on a stall wall in a high school boys’ bathroom prompted a precautionary evacuation of Canton High School today.

Classes resumed following a search of the building, according to a statement from the school.

The threat was determined to be a hoax, the school statement said.

This was the third bomb threat reported at area schools, and the second in Canton, this month, all unfounded.

On May 17, a bomb threat hoax forced the evacuation of Canton Middle School. In that case a Canton Middle School student told a faculty member that a scribbled bomb threat was seen on a stall wall in a boys’ bathroom.

That threat also precipitated a precautionary evacuation of the school. No real threat was found.

And on May 22, high school and middle school classes at Norwood-Norfolk Central School were locked down after a student reported seeing a bomb threat written on a wall.

Police found no bomb there.
