WADDINGTON – Professional anglers left from Waddington boat launches to begin a four-day tournament for the Bassmasters Elite Series early this morning.
With a top prize of $100,000 the competition is expected to be fierce.
Francis Stripp, who was at the opening of the event said roughly 60 boats were heading toward the 1,000 Islands region.
Stripp said a few stopped off to fish the point at Ogden Island.
Waddington business owner Pam Dalton, who operates the River Run Fitness Center, said anglers packed the bay at dawn as they prepare to launch.
Several viewers reported crowds gathering as the tournament began at 6:30 a.m.
