CANTON -- Velma Bolyard's BOCES class recently created barn quilts as a math project. The project was organized by Lori Davis who has designed and painted many barn quilts for herself and her family.
The students began by sketching out their designs on graph paper, and then Lori and Velma prepped several two-foot square boards for each student to draw their quilt pattern on.
Using their chosen color scheme, each student painted mini-barn quilts. The class also made one large four-foot square quilt in Heuvelton's school colors, which will hang on the custodial barn. The class presented their quilt to Superintendent Todd, and each student signed it.
The class then gave the barn quilt to the custodial staff, who plan to mount it on the barn.
