Azure Mountain Friends (AMF) is looking for two students for scholarships and volunteers as summit interpreters or trail workers.
Preference will be given to local students when (AMF) awards scholarships of $500 to two high school seniors or college students who volunteer to serve as AMF Fire Tower Interpreters for five days on summer weekends.
In learning about Azure Mountain’s human and natural history and the story of the fire tower’s restoration, the students will gain a new awareness and appreciation for environmental and historic preservation.
And AMF seeks hikers who would be interested in volunteering for a weekend day during “fire tower interpreting” season as a summit interpreter or trail worker on a trail work day.
Azure Mountain is south of St Regis Falls, and offers a historic fire tower and spectacular views from its 2,518’ summit. 2011 will mark the ninth year of the AMF Volunteer Tower Interpreter Program, which runs each season from Memorial Day Weekend through Columbus Day Weekend.
