POTSDAM-- A woman trying to avoid a deer crashed her car on the Bagdad Road Tuesday afternoon.
Jill Ann Ludlum, 46, of 5 Pleasant St., Potsdam, was injured but her three-month-old child showed no sign of injury, St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies said.
Ludlum was driving her 1988 Camry northeast along Bagdad Road when she crested a hill and saw a deer in the road. She braked and skidded off the snow- and ice-covered road, striking a tree and damaging the driver's door of the car.
Finding them trapped in the car, deputies and Potsdam fire and rescue volunteers helped Ludlum and the child out of the car.
Both were taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital where Ludlum was reportedly treated for a head cut and pain in her leg.
