OGDENSBURG – An autopsy is to be performed today to determine the cause of death of a Heuvelton man who was struck by a pickup truck and killed as he walked along State Rt. 37 near Ogdensburg last night.
Meanwhile, the state police continue their investigation of the accident.
Troopers said the preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that a 2003 GMC pick up, operated by James McDonald Jr, 58, of Ogdensburg, was eastbound when it struck and killed Philip E. Gladle, 76, of Heuvelton, who was walking in the roadway. That happened at about 6:25 p.m., according to state police.
The Troop B Collision Reconstruction Unit was assisting in the investigation.
St. Lawrence County Coroner James Sienkiewycz responded to the scene and pronounced Gladle dead. He authorized removal to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center for the autopsy today.
St Lawrence County District Attorney Nicole Duve has been advised of the investigation, according to troopers.
