Assemblyman Butler urging attendance at Albany ‘Second Amendment Rally’ Feb. 28

Assemblyman Marc Butler is urging people to travel to Albany Feb. 28 for a Second Amendment rally which will feature National Rifle Association President David Keene.

The Republican 118th Assembly District representative, from Newport in Herkimer County, says the program will run from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Butler has been promoting this event at meetings in his district he has been hosting on Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s gun control law.

Those who wish to attend should have valid ID with them, and should register on the Concourse Level of the Legislative Office Building just beyond the security checkpoint.

Attendees will be able to pick up materials and information about the day’s proceedings there.

The rally itself will be on the West Capitol Lawn, at State and South Swan Streets.

Also at the event will be representatives of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, the Shooters Committee on Political Education, local sportsmen’s federations, sportsmen’s advocacy groups, and other elected officials.

Butler, whose district includes the St. Lawrence County townships of Madrid, Norfolk, Stockholm, Parishville, Pierrepont, Clare, Colton, Cifton and Fine, has expressed dismay at the speed with which Gov. Cuomo pushed his NYSafe Act through the legislature, and at the provisions of the gun control law, which include restrictions on the capacity of ammunition clips and broaden the firearm purchase background check provisions of New York law.
