Arts groups in Potsdam, Ogdensburg, Norwood, Canton to receive shares of $233,000 for 2015 projects

Arts groups in Potsdam, Ogdensburg, Norwood and Canton will receive thousands of dollars in funding from the New York State Council on the Arts for 2015 projects.

Nine organizations will get shares of $233,365.

Potsdam’s St. Lawrence County Arts Council is getting more than $115,615. Of that, $5,000 will support the Special Arts program, which offers art classes for special needs adults and teens. The group will get $25,615 for general operating support. They will receive $85,000 for an arts partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program.

Cinema 10 in Potsdam will receive $7,250 to support showing 20 films, as well as bringing someone involved with making one of the films at least once per year.

Ogdensburg’s Frederic Remington Museum will get $15,000 for their day-to-day operation.

The Norwood Green Village Concert Series will receive $7,500 for its 2015 run.

Ogdensburg Command Performances is getting $4,500 for 19 “Youtheatre” performances for pre-K through grade 12 students.

Potsdam’s Orchestra of Northern New York is receiving $19,000 so they can make their business manager and executive director positions full-time. They will also use the money to broaden outreach and attract younger audiences.

Canton-based St. Lawrence Historical Association will get $10,500 for general program support.
