POTSDAM -- A local woman working to stage a "blessing bag" distribution for area seniors does not have the endorsement of the St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging.

Although Verena Jones is asking for sponsors from the public to help fill and distribute 100 blessing bags at $25 each, the St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging reports that they are not affiliated with Jones and her request for donations from the public for Blessing Bags. Jones has said she is working with the Office for the Aging, but the office said they did not endorse her solicitation of monetary contributions.

On her order page, Jones, an "independent consultant" with Jamberry cosmetic products, indicates that each bag will contain Jamberry lotion, and also a crossword puzzle book, hand sanitizer, chap stick, cabin socks, mints, Kleenex, toothbrush and paste and a shower scrubbie, all chosen by Jones, to be sold to sponsors for $25 and distributed by Jones.
