CANTON -- Applications for the fall 2016 semester are at a three-year high at SUNY Canton.
The college has received nearly 3,000 freshman applications, approximately 20 percent more than in 2015, according to a recent report from SUNY.
That easily tops the 5 percent overall growth in applications among all SUNY Colleges of Technology.
“Our application percentage increase is higher than that of every other SUNY school at this point” said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. “This is a solid step toward our goals, and can be attributed to our excellent faculty, facilities, programs, and highly ranked academic support services. Students are looking for a hands-on, STEM oriented education and SUNY Canton is the best place for applied learning."
The Office of Admissions has embarked on several new recruiting methods. Recently they conducted a peer recruitment program, where area high school seniors could meet with current college students to talk about the SUNY Canton experience.
The college will be welcoming students to its final open house of the spring semester April 2.
SUNY Canton will also host Admitted Student Days March 4, April 8 and April 23.
