Nick Marchione will be the special guest artist with the All-Star Big Band June 29.

NORWOOD -- The next two upcoming performances in the Norwood Village Green Concert Series will be by The All Star Big Band on Thursday, June 29, at 7 p.m.; and on Sunday, July 2, The Lou Coppola Vinnie Raniolo Duo and Microburst with Andy Van Duyne and Michael Welch.

The All Star Big Band show on Thursday, June 29 will be under the direction of Wally Siebel with guest artist Nick Marchione on Trumpet.

Nick Marchione is an active freelancer in New York City, holding down some of the most coveted chairs in his profession, including lead trumpet in the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and The Birdland Big Band.

On Broadway he has played in the pit orchestras and original cast recordings of The Little Mermaid, The Producers, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He has also played in the pit orchestras of Holiday Inn, The New Irving Berlin Musical, Disaster, The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, Memphis, and several others.

Nick has played and recorded with such legends as Slide Hampton, McCoy Tyner, Tony Bennett, Nancy Wilson, Jimmy Heath, Bob Brookmeyer, Natalie Cole, Paul Anka, Kirk Franklin, Jimmy Heath, and James Moody, to name a few, along with his many recordings with the VJO. He has recorded and toured with Prince.

He has played lead alongside Snooky Young in the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra at Washington D.C’s Kennedy Center.

The All-Star Big Band has backed up guitarist/vocalist John Pizzarelli and Phantom of the Opera star Lisa Vroman, presented by CPS, the Community Performance Series, at the Crane School of Music, among others. Director Wally Siebel is a well known jazz musician in the Northern New York region and abroad.

The Lou Coppola Vinnie Raniolo Duo and Microburst with Andy Van Duyne and Michael Welch will take the stage Sunday, July 2. The concert begins at 6 pm.

All four musicians will appear in different roles than previously showcased by the Norwood Village Green Concert Series.

After a rewarding career as a full-time musician for almost five decades in the Long Island and New York City area, Lou Coppola has turned his musical attention to songwriting. His skills at singing and guitar playing which have served him well over the years were evident in his debut album. Lou Coppola's debut album "Story 7" is a compelling soul searching journey with vivid imagery and defining lyrics, combining pop-rock rhythms and a smooth voice.

Vinnie Raniolo previously performed at the Green with Frank Vignola, and has previously performed and recorded with Bucky Pizzarelli, Tommy Emmanuel, and David Grisman, just to name a few.

He is perhaps best known for his work with Frank Vignola as both a duo and trio. Since Frank and Vinny teamed up in 2008 they have performed over 1000 shows at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in the world including the Sydney Opera House, Lincoln Center, Liverpool Philharmonic, Quebec Music Festival and the world’s oldest indoor concert hall, Italy’s Teatro Olimpico in Vicneza. Their jaw-dropping technique and incredible showmanship explains why the New York Times deemed them, “…stars of the guitar.”

Michael Welch is a native northern New York musician who has been playing for over 30 years. As both a solo artist and as a member of several groups, including "Northbound" and "Microburst," he has entertained many with renditions of songs by the likes of James Taylor, Paul Simon, The Beatles and Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Andy Van Duyne taught music at Norwood-Norfolk Central School for 32 years. Since arriving at the Crane School Of Music in 1973 he has been involved in many musical pursuits, including a number of popular bands, solo projects, and area school productions. In addition to Microburst, Andy currently joins Michael in Northbound.
