The American Red Cross says they have provided emergency aid to nine people after Sunday and Tuesday fires in Massena and Gouverneur.
On Sunday, an electrical cord sparked a blaze at 35 Parker Ave., Massena, that left a family of three homeless.
Red Cross gave money for food and clothing to two adults and a 12-year-old child, who they did not name.
The agency also gave temporary shelter and money for food and clothes to a family of six who lost their home on Dane Road to a Tuesday fire.
The family included three adults and three children, ages 5, 12 and 13. Red Cross did not name them.
“In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help the ]families] as they navigate the road to recovery,” Red Cross said in a prepared statement.
