POTSDAM -- The American Red Cross is seeking donations of winter clothing as part of its "Winter Warmth Project."
The drive runs from Veterans Day now until March 1, to benefit homeless and in-need veterans.
In St. Lawrence County donations may be dropped off at the Potsdam location, 73 Market Street.
The Winter Warmth Project will run throughout the Eastern New York Region, which includes the greater St. Lawrence County.
The Red Cross is seeking donations of new winter items, such as gloves, scarves, hats, coats, blankets, sweatshirts and sweatpants, to be distributed to veterans in need. Working in partnership with the Veteran's Miracle Center, local V.A. hospitals and other veterans organizations, the Red Cross will distribute donated items continually during the campaign to ensure that local veterans receive winter items as quickly as possible.
"We're very happy to be launching a new campaign to bring warmth to our veterans this winter," said Dianna Rios, Services to the Armed Forces Manager for the American Red Cross Eastern New York Region. "With such great partners and generous communities across our region, we know we'll be able to make a tangible difference with this project."
Donors are encouraged to include a holiday card or personal note of thanks for the veteran who will benefit from each donation. Cards and notes, along with winter items, can be dropped off at any Red Cross office in the Eastern New York Region. To find your nearest Red Cross office, please visit www.redcross.org/eny.
