“America Recycles Day” is Saturday, Nov. 16, and the Norwood Lake Association Recycling Center will celebrate 23 years of operation.
The center has been open every Saturday since Nov. 9, 1990, even holidays.
Lake association volunteers will man the center from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., where Norwood residents can dispose of up to 75 percent of household waste at no cost. Eligible recyclables include newspapers, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal, and plastic shopping bags.
The association established the center after local town dumps closed, according to a press release from Jim McFaddin, association president.
In addition to the Norwood center, county transfer stations in Gouverneur, Massena, Ogdensburg, and Star Lake will accept recyclables for free from 8 a.m. to noon.
