OGDENSBURG -- Allegiant Air may be expanding its flight destinations, but Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority Director Wade Davis said he could not share details.

At a Monday presentation to city council, Davis said the airport is up to 22,000 enplanements and is gaining renown. He said someone who had good things to say about the airport approached him at a conference in Tennessee.

Davis said Cape Air in Ogdensburg is having a record-setting year, with bookings up by 80 percent since Massena discontinued its Cape Air service.

Mayor Wayne Ashley asked Davis if the airlines were considering adding destinations, and Davis said that while he is aware of the answer, he could not share in information because it is “proprietary.” He said the airlines would make those announcements when they are ready.

Davis said that a substantial number of passengers are coming from Canada, to the tune of about 85 percent of all Allegiant’s enplanements.

Davis said more than 5 million Canadians travel to the U.S. for flights each year.

Ashley also asked if other airlines would begin using the airport. Davis said that remains a possibility.
