CANTON — A DeKalb Junction man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated following a hit-and-run accident Tuesday night near Jameson Road and U.S. Highway 11, according to state police.

Police said Samual A. Bulla, 31, Syracuse, was driving north on U.S. Highway 11 in a 2016 Kenworth Straight Truck owned by Hahn Automotive when he swerved to avoid a dark colored pickup truck that had veered into his lane.

The second vehicle struck the driver's side of Bulla’s vehicle, in a sideswipe type crash, troopers said.

Bulla took action to avoid the collision but was unable to do so, police said.

Troopers began searching for a vehicle fitting the description and soon located a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado with damage along the entire length of the driver’s side. The driver was Dale L. O’Donnell, 44.

He was charged on U.S. Highway 11 at 10:20 p.m. with felony DWI: previous conviction in 10 years, operator leaving the scene of a property-damage accident and failure to keep right, officers said.

His blood-alcohol content was .12 percent.

O’Donnell was previously consisted of DWI on April 23, 2007, police said.

He was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court in front of Justice Camp where he was released on his own recognizance to appear in court Dec. 19 at 10 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
