The Potsdam Icestorm 16U girls stand atop their division with a 3-0 record as the Tier II national championships head for a last round of competition before the championship game tomorrow.
The Icestorm beat the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Griffins Friday by a score of 3-1. The Griffins are the first team to get one in net against the Icestorm during the tournament.
Today, the Icestorm play the Arizona She Wolves.
The St. Lawrence Thunder 14U girls are near the top of the pack, in second place in their Tier II division with a 2-1 tournament record going into Saturday competition.
They blanked the Nashua (N.H.) Panthers Friday, 5-0.
The Thunder girls take on the Cape Cod Storm today.
In Charlotte, N.C., the St. Lawrence Thunder Bantams 14U boys team fell to 2-1 in Tier II national championship play, losing Friday 3-2 to the Denver University Jr. Pioneers, but they remain on top of their division.
They beat the Pittsburgh Predators 4-3 Wednesday, and crushed the Montgomery Blue Devils 13-1 on Thursday. In part by virtue of the big win Thursday, they are at the top of their division.
The boys play the Red Bank Generals today, looking for a shot in the championship round tomorrow.
