All four St. Lawrence County representatives in Albany earn Farm Bureau's 'Friends of Agriculture' nod

All four of St. Lawrence County’s current representatives in Albany have been named “Friends of Agriculture” by the New York Farm Bureau.

Among the 96 “Circle of Friends” recipients for 2012 include Senators Joseph Griffo and Patty Ritchie and Assembly members Ken Blankenbush and Addie Russell.

The award is an indication of the lawmakers’ support of the Farm Bureau, the state’s largest general farm advocacy organization, and New York agriculture.

“The ‘Circle of Friends’ award is based upon each legislator’s voting record on issues of importance to New York agriculture and other evidence of legislative support, including sponsorship of bills that New York Farm Bureau has either supported or opposed throughout the legislative session,” said Dean Norton, New York Farm Bureau President.

Farm Bureau said the lawmakers were chosen for their strong support of New York’s family farms. Each “Circle of Friends” member has demonstrated understanding of the importance of agriculture in their legislative districts, and how the industry impacts the economy and the future of New York State.

The “Circle of Friends” award is not an endorsement, and includes only the 2012 Legislative Session, the release from the NY Farm Bureau said.
