MASSENA -- Over 160 runners and walkers participated in the 6th annual Alcoa Employee Food Drive 5K at Barnhart Beach Saturday, raising over $3,000 for local food pantries.
This year’s event was held in honor of Alcoa retiree Tom Seguin, who had served as race director for the previous five years.
This year’s race director, Alcoa employee Jane Mogle-Besaw, presented Seguin with a plaque and a photo collage commemorating his many years of service and in appreciation of the thousands of volunteer hours that he devoted to making this annual event a success.
The 5K was part of Alcoa’s Month of Service, in which employees at Alcoa locations throughout the world participate in a variety of activities to benefit their communities.
Proceeds from the 5K benefit the Massena Neighborhood Center, Salvation Army, Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Meals on Wheels. Many thanks to the volunteers who help coordinate the event, and all those who participated.
