AKWESASNE -- The winner of the World Series of Poker qualifier round at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino is going to the big tournament in Las Vegas in July.
Morrisonville native Edward Bouissey won the casino’s poker tournament June 11.

Akwesasne Mohawk Casino says it will pay for Bouissey’s travel expenses and entry fee into the tournament.
“Honestly, I just wanted to make it to the final table! I never thought I’d win the tournament again,” Bouissey said.
He won a similar qualifier in 2009 at the Mohawk Bingo Palace and says that the experience has taught him some valuable lessons about poker.
“Going to Las Vegas in 2009, I admit I was overwhelmed. All you hear walking in is poker chips and cards shuffling.”
Bouissey was one of 8,000 players that day and the pressure may have gotten the best of him. “I think I’ve learned valuable lessons from my last trip and I definitely have a better shot this time.”
The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino is on Route 37 in the Hogansburg and features a wide array of games and a variety of restaurants.
