AKWESASNE -- With the hiring of a new teen program coordinator, the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club is making some changes to hours so that teens have the club to themselves from 6 to 10 p.m. every Friday, to serve the youngsters in the community better.

And as of Monday, Feb. 11, hours Monday to Thursday will be 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Friday 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Those 12 years old and younger may not stay past 6 p.m.

The new hours will be kicked off with a dance for all community teens. It coincides with the Akwesasne Winter Carnival.

Several club field trips have been planned such as a trip to Syracuse University for the Albany versus Syracuse lacrosse game, a Cornwall Colts game made possible by a donation from Twinleaf, and a spring college tour to visit Syracuse University and Onondaga Community College.

Any new or interested teens wanting to participate in the teen program are asked to stop in at the club at 37 Rooseveltown Rd. and fill out a membership form.
