MASSENA -- The Town Council will discuss and possibly hire a consultant to do their own study of financials at Massena Memorial Hospital at a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon.
It is expected the Council will immediately enter executive session to discuss details of a possible contract with a consultant to analyze the books at MMH and action is likely after the executive session, Town Supervisor Joseph Gray said.
On Aug. 20, the town board approved spending $50,000 of casino compact funds to hire a consultant to look into Massena Memorial Hospital’s finances. In light of a dire financial situation, they are looking at making the municipal institute a private non-profit and the town board wants more information before they make a decision.
