After a trip to Arkansas, Massena’s Christmas tree finally arrives

MASSENA –After taking an unplanned trip to Arkansas, Massena’s Christmas tree has finally arrived.

Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Michael Gleason said the tree arrived Monday, just four days before Dec. 25.

Massena Village employees Paul Russell, Andy Beaulieu and John Bowles assembled the new Christmas tree in the Veteran’s Memorial Park.

“Part of the tree took a side trip to Arkansas and it took a bit to get back to Massena and we truly appreciate the help received from the Village of Massena and Walsh Trucking with the delivery of our tree,” Gleason said.

“The entire Massena Chamber Staff and Board of Directors are so excited that we, with the help of our sponsors, have been able to upgrade the holiday decorations both downtown and in the Veterans Memorial Park” said Chamber President Miriam Catapano. “It has been such an improvement and we hope to continue adding more during the coming years.”

“It is our hope that everyone in Massena gets a chance to visit the Veteran’s Memorial Park and take a drive through downtown to enjoy the lights and decorations,” Gleason said. “The only issue we seem to have is that there are some individuals who have felt it necessary to unplug and break some of the lights, steal a lead cord and have mangled a couple of the trees that line the sidewalk in the park. We are hoping these incidents will end so that everyone can enjoy the decorations.”
