DEKALB JUNCTION -- Suzann Conklin, who has been cutting hair in town for about 40 years, is ready to sell her current salon and tanning parlor and go do more fishing, hunting and antiquing.
She plans on moving out “in about six months, but I wanted to get started” in finding a buyer for Suzann’s Hair Shoppe, at 3 Ridge St.
She opened her first shop in DeKalb in 1976, after working for a year in Gouverneur. She graduated from the St. Lawrence Lewis BOCES cosmetology program at Northwest Tech in Ogdensburg and advanced haircutting school at Southwest Tech in Fowler.
She had two other shops right on U.S. Rt. 11 before she opened the current shop in 2001.
She said the current space has plenty of room to expand services. She would be selling a business all ready to go with the client list and inventory.
Anyone interested in the business can call Conklin at 347-3459, 276-5558, or 347-3591.
When she’s sold the shop, she will spend more time taking care of her mother, and will “do what I’ve always wanted to do: more fishing, hunting and antiquing.”
