Adirondack Park Agency to hear about plans for future of Adirondacks in St. Lawrence County; meeting to be webcast

The Adirondack Park Agency Thursday will hear about specific plans for the future of parts of the Adirondack Park, including St. Lawrence County.

The APA’s next regularly scheduled monthly meeting, at its Ray Brook headquarters begins at 9 a.m. and will be available for viewing live in a webcast.

At 1:15 p.m., the State Land Committee will hear a report from NYS DEC Region 6 staff regarding the implementation of unit management plans in Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida and St. Lawrence counties.

At 9:30, the Regulatory Program Committee will deliberate requests for relief from the agency’s shoreline setback requirements from three separate sites: to construct a single family dwelling within 50 feet of the mean high water mark on Sacandaga Lake in the Town of Lake Pleasant, Hamilton County; to construct a logging bridge across the Branch River in the town of North Hudson, Essex County; and for construction of a single family dwelling in Resource Management classified land within 100 feet of the mean high water mark of Lake George in the town of Putnam, Washington County.

Also on the agenda are a proposed map amendment to the Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan for 9.6 acres of land in the Town of Harrietstown, Franklin County and a Community Spotlight presentation from Town of Jay Supervisor Randy Douglas on opportunities and challenges facing his community.

The March meeting is scheduled for March 15 and 16 at agency headquarters in Ray Brook.

The April meeting is set for April 19 and 20 in Ray Brook.
