CANTON -- A convicted sex offender at St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility faces felony assault charges following a fight at the jail.

James A. Pleau,71, was charged with second-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing following a fight with a fellow inmate.

St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said Pleau was held on $5,000 bail.

Pleau was convicted and jailed on a charge of first-degree attempted sexual abuse.

He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
