New York Empire State Development’s board of directors has approved millions of dollars for projects statewide, including $500,000 for a portion of the construction cost for improvements to the Village of Heuvelton's wastewater system on State Street.
The village needed to upgrade its wastewater system, which was inadequate for the needs of the growing community and in need of repair, according to a press release from Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office.
Heuvelton applied for funding help and was awarded $500,000 from the North Country Regional Economic Development Council, which had established a specific infrastructure fund to assist North Country communities with municipal infrastructure projects.
$2.7 million in financing was approved two years ago for earlier phases of the project.
This project is consistent with the North Country Regional Economic Development Council’s (NCREDC) plan to support new and existing business development and improve health, safety and quality of life with upgraded infrastructure in North Country communities.
