4-H Camp Overlook for summer 2017 will have some new offerings for campers who attend during one of the six weeks the camp is open for summer programs.

Their cooking class has proved so popular that they will be offering it during all six weeks.

They are also introducing a new camp garden and gardening class for this summer, where participants will learn about where their food comes from, get hands-on experience at gardening, and taste what the garden produces.

Campers will also get a chance to become reporters, interview other campers and staff, and take photos for a camp newspaper which will be available in print and online at the end of the week, as part of the new camp newspaper class.

There will also be an advanced air gun class for campers 11 and up who have already taken an air gun class want to further their skills.

A new “pathfinder” class will be offered during weeks 2, 3 and 5, for campers of all ages as a stepping stone into backpacking and camping.

Established in 1945 as a summer camp, Camp Overlook is a 4-H Camp owned by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Franklin and St. Lawrence County. It is between Mountain View Lake and Indian Lake in Franklin County.

It offers need-based scholarships to residents of Franklin and St. Lawrence County.
