For 2017, 4-H Camp Overlook in Owl’s Head is adding a second session of Cloverbud camp for 6-to-8-year-olds.
Cloverbud camp gives the youngsters an introduction to overnight camping with a 3-day, 2-night session, to let children feel like they’re really away at camp without giving them time to get homesick.
For the past few years Cloverbud camp has filled quickly, and last year there was a sizable waitlist, according to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Franklin and St. Lawrence County, operators of the camps.
They will introduce a small Cloverbud second session for August 2017, to run concurrently with the traditional week 6 program for older campers.
Cloverbud session 1 will run Thursday, June 29 to Saturday, July 1; session 2 will run Sunday, Aug. 6 to Tuesday Aug. 8.
Cloverbud campers will be in their own cabins, with counselors specially trained to work with the young children.
Registration for all 4-H Camp Overlook sessions opens Feb. 1 online and in paper.
