$400,000 in funding available to help Ogdensburg homeowners rehabilitate their houses

OGDENSBURG -- A $400,000 grant will help Ogdensburg homeowners rehabilitate their houses and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions.

Ogdensburg’s program will assist 10-12 income eligible, owner-occupied, single-family homes located within the New York Avenue Target Area.

Typical improvements funded through the program include roofing, window replacement, painting and siding, along with energy conservation measures including insulation, new furnaces, and replacement of hot water heaters.

"We are very thankful to the Office of Homes and Community Renewal for approving the City's most recent CDBG grant application. This significant funding will help improve our owner-occupied housing stock by allowing us to provide necessary improvements that will enhance the New York Avenue neighborhood and the community as a whole. Finally, I want to acknowledge the hard work accomplished by City staff and the Development Authority of the North Country without which these opportunities to improve our City would not have been possible," Mayor William Nelson said.

Applications are now available through the City’s website http://ogdensburg.org/, or by visiting the Planning Department: 330 Ford Street, 2nd Floor, City Hall.

In an effort to inform local contractors about this CDBG program and other municipal opportunities, the City is hosting a contractor workshop Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. in the Dobisky Visitor Center. The workshop, How to Successfully Bid Municipal Contracts, will dissect what makes up a General Municipal Contract & the requirements associated with bidding these contracts while offering attendees a chance to ask questions.
