CANTON -- The 2014 4-H Vet Science Program is taking registrations for five classes with the SUNY Canton veterinary program at the Canton campus.

These classes are designed for youth aged 13 to 18 interested in a future in the animal science professions.

This is an opportunity to experience a taste of college life with the SUNY Canton veterinary programs. It is offered to 4-H Club members and Public Schools students.

The program, coordinated by Cornell Cooperative Extension, begins by sending a $20 registration fee, name and address. Following the organizational meeting with college students and staff after at the end of January, they will mail out dates and time information to those that have registered.

In the past, the five classes run one evening each week through February and March.

Previous classes have been on Animal Health, Pathology, Radiology, Lab sessions and the opportunity to experience the campus life. Each year the classes are taught by current vet tech students under the supervision of campus and extension staff.

More info is available from Mary Beth Green at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Office, 2043B St. Hwy 68, Canton, 379-9192, ext. 229.
