WADDINGTON -- The 38th annual Waddington Homecoming will be Aug. 2 to Aug. 4 with a “Waddington-Where the World Comes to Fish” theme.
Friday will include a pet show at 10 a.m., sand castle contest at 1 p.m., book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., “diaper derby” at 6:30 p.m., lip sync contest at 7 p.m. and Acoustic Brothers concert at 9 p.m.
Saturday highlights will include a craft show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., parade at 6 p.m., juggling at noon, chicken barbeque at 11 a.m., quilt show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., games, duck race at 8 p.m., music and fireworks at dusk.
Sunday will wrap up with an ecumenical service at 9 a.m., community picnic at noon, and tube race at 2 p.m.
The schedule follows:
• Friday, Aug. 2: 10 a.m. pet show at town hall square; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., book sale at library; noon, teddy bear picnic at Waddington Beach; 1 p.m., sand castle contest at beach; 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.; ice cream social at United Methodist Church; 6:15 p.m., opening ceremony at town hall square; 6:30 p.m., diaper derby at town hall square; 7 p.m., lip sync contest at town hall square, registration at 5:30 p.m.; 9 p.m. music by Acoustic Brothers at town hall.
• Saturday, Aug. 3: 7 a.m., pancake breakfast at United Methodist Church; 9 a.m., 5k run from Island View Park, registration at 7:30 a.m.; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., book sale at library; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., car show at Island View Park, registration 10:30 a.m.; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., craft, antique and flea market show at town hall square; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., quilt and textile show at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., art show at former elementary school; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., boy scouts dunk tank at town hall square; 11 a.m., children’s games, Island View Park; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Music by Donna Miller, gazebo; 11 a.m., chicken barbecue at the Waddington Fire Hall; noon to 1 p.m., juggler, gravitational bull, library; 1 to 2:30 p.m., karaoke with Rick Snyder, town hall square; 2:30 p.m., bed races on Main Street; 6 p.m., parade from LaGrasse Street to Island View Park; 7 p.m., music by Double Barrel Blues, Island View Park, 8 p.m., 14 annual duck race from the town beach to Island View Park, dusk, fireworks at Island View Park.
• Sunday, Aug. 4: 9 a.m., homecoming ecumenical service, United Methodist Church; noon, community picnic and "cup cake war," town beach; 2 p.m., tube race from town beach to Island View Park.
