3 to 6 inches of snow predicted for St. Lawrence County through Wednesday

Southeast St. Lawrence County is under a hazardous weather warning for tonight, and the rest of the county is looking at a 100 percent chance of snow.

The National Weather Service is predicting three to six inches of snow for the Star Lake area with winds gusting up to 40 mph. Travel could be difficult through Tuesday night, NWS says.

The entire county is looking at 70 to 80 percent chances of rain in most areas and snow around Star Lake through Monday, with temperatures hitting highs in the mid 40s.

Monday night brings a 100 percent chance of snow with temperatures around 32 degrees, with 1 to 2 inches expected in most areas. Tuesday has 70 to 90 percent chance of snow, with another 1 to 2 inches expected, continuing through night time with temperatures reaching lows around 25 degrees. Wednesday also has a high chance of snow with temperatures predicted to hit highs in the mid 30s and another 1 to 2 inches of snow.

The detailed forecast for St. Lawrence County:

Monday - Rain, mainly after 2pm. Patchy fog before 10am. High near 44. East wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday night - Rain before 1am, then rain and snow. Low around 32. Northeast wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday - Snow, mainly before 1pm, then snow showers likely after 1pm. High near 38. Northeast wind 6 to 14 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tuesday night - Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 29. West wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Wednesday - Snow showers before 2pm, then rain showers between 2pm and 4pm, then snow showers after 4pm. High near 39. Northwest wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
