HEUVELTON – A $2 million grant and a $775,000 interest-free loan are on their way to the Village of Heuvelton for the second phase of improvements to its wastewater treatment facility collection system.
Upgrades include the repair or replacement of approximately 75 manholes and over 4,000 feet of pipe; installation of back-up power at two pumping stations; and the replacement of aged electrical infrastructure at the wastewater treatment plant.
This project, which is expected to commence this summer, is designed to reduce the risk of inadequately treated wastewater discharges into the Oswegatchie River and ensure better and more consistent treatment of wastewater in the village.
The grant and short-term interest-free loan come through New York’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund, managed by the state Environmental Facilities Corporation. The EFC board approved Heuvelton’s package of financing Friday in a unanimous vote.
