The St. Lawrence County League of Women Voters has made available copies of the state League’s 2014 Voters Guide, Part 2: The Candidates at all the public libraries in the County with the distribution help of the North Country Library System.

The 2014 Voter Guide contains information for voters to consider before Election Day Nov. 4. It also lists the candidates for the statewide offices, the attorney general, comptroller, governor and lieutenant governor. The candidates for governor also were asked four questions and the guide includes their tallied responses.

The Voter Guide also includes the ballot language for the three state-wide ballot items: revising the redistricting process, permitting the distribution of electronic bill language to legislators, and the Smart Schools Bond Act of 2014.

In addition to the paper copies, you can also find the brochure on-line at: http://www.lwvny.org/advocacy/vote/2014/Voter-Guide-partII-F_0914.pdf

The St. Lawrence County League is a nonpartisan political organization open to women and men that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

The local League and its civic partners, AAUW-St. Lawrence County, the Center for Excellence in Communication at Clarkson University, and the Media and Communications students under the direction of Dan Dullea, also produce North Country Matters, a series of 30-minute video news discussions that provide voter education through thoughtful and civil discourse on public policy and governance. The fall semester of new shows have begun taping and are shown weekly on WKCN, Time Warner Digital Channel 30 on Mon. and Tues. nights at 7:30 pm, and available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/danieledullea.
